The center will consolidate the research, studies and technological development of biochemistry, biotechnology, molecular biology, genetics, neurobiology, molecular medicine and other areas, the Vilnius University said on Friday.
Professor Juozas Rimantas Lazutka, the head of the project, said the center would accommodate groups of scientists of life sciences and biotechnologies with international recognition, as well as provide practical training for university students.
The Combined Center of Life Sciences is being developed on the basis of VU institutes of biochemistry and biotechnologies and the Faculty of Life Sciences, it will be a part of the integrated Santara research, studies and business center.
The construction costs totaled at 32.3 million euros.
