Vopak E.O.S. is ready to begin the construction of a terminal for liquefied natural gas (LNG) at Muuga just outside Tallinn next year.

Some 593,000 old-age pensioners and 202,000 disability pensioners in Lithuania will receive higher pensions starting January after the government approved on Wednesday an average increase of 20 euros in pension payments.

Russian gas concern Gazprom must pay Lithuania a fine of 35.651 million euros, which was imposed two years ago for refusing to sign a gas exchange deal with Lithuania's state-owned electricity production group Lietuvos Energijos Gamyba (Lithuanian Energy Production, LEG) formerly known as Lietuvos Energija, the Supreme Administrative Court ruled on Thursday 22 December.

Litgas, the gas trade arm of the state energy group Lietuvos Energija (Lithuanian Energy), will fill the first small-scale LNG tanker in the port of Klaipeda with liquefied natural gas.

Acquisition of the Iki grocery retail chain of 235 stores in Lithuania will make Rimi Lietuva the second-largest market player with nearly a fourth of the market, which will enable it to boost competition and offer lower prices for consumers.
