The Bank of Lithuania published the balance of payments for October 2023, which shows that:

Minister of the Economy and Innovation Aušrinė Armonaitė presented the main achievements of 2023, including the implementation of the EUR 1 billion plan for the Lithuanian economy, the strengthening of trade relations with foreign partners, and the development of the innovation and start-up ecosystem. Attracting foreign direct investment is also one of the areas where significant results have been achieved.

The Government approved a draft law prepared by the Ministry of the Economy and Innovation to increase data availability and re-use. This would increase the efficiency of public and municipal corporations and limited liability companies and save more than €4 million in public funds.

On 5th December, the Seimas approved the draft 2024 State budgetary plan prepared by the Ministry of Finance, which focuses on the implementation of the agreement on education and three priority areas consistently identified by the Ministry of Finance: increasing personal income, strengthening security and investing in Lithuania's future. 73 members of the Seimas voted for the draft State budgetary plan, 52 voted against, and 1 abstained from voting.

The Budgetary Control Committee adopted its annual anti-fraud report for 2022 evaluating the efforts in the EU to counter fraud and how to better protect EU funds.

The European Union's Digital Services Act will enter into force in Lithuania on 17 February next year, ensuring safer procedures for the provision and regulation of digital services both in Lithuania and across the EU. This will benefit both businesses and consumers.

The Ministry of the Economy and Innovation, together with the Public Procurement Office, have elected five organisations and companies that have been most innovative and smartest in public procurement as well as those that have applied best management practices in 2023.

The distribution of the fourth issue Government savings notes (GSN) ended on Monday, where residents purchased GSN for EUR 26.2 million and 1,781 transactions were made. Residents will be paid 3.8 per cent of annual interest on this new one-year GSN issue.
