Lithuanian eggs have only recently found a market in the US whose egg production dropped this year due to an epidemic of bird flu, it wrote.
"Our products are not sold at retail stores. They are used for processing. Veterinary requirements for such products are simpler than for products for retailing," Jonas Stanius of the State Food and Veterinary Service said.
Lithuania exports around one-fourth of its egg output, which totaled 806 million last year, according to figures from the country's statistics office.
