"Yesterday we agreed to raise the tax-free amount of income from EUR 166 to EUR 200 to those whose wages and salaries are up to EUR 928," the PM said on the radio Ziniu Radijas.
It is believed that the step will reduce the tax burden and increase the real income of residents even without having to raise wages and salaries. Butkevicius also mentioned plans to increase the tax-free amount of income for children.
Currently, the size of non-taxable income for families with children stands at EUR 60 for each child, while as of 1 January it will increase twice and reach EUR 120. According to the PM, this should encourage young families.
