'After the summer season ends, the extent of activities in Europe shrinks – the number of passengers traveling to popular resort countries decreases tenfold. Small Planet Airlines has a clear strategy how to lower the negative impact of seasonality on the business. We are working on finding business opportunities where the holiday season reaches its peak during the winter. Based on the agreement with Asian airline Sky Angkor, we will fly tourists from China and South Korea to Cambodia', said Mr. Vytautas Kaikaris, CEO of Small Planet Airlines.
The Siem Reap region of Cambodia is one of the most famous tourist destinations in the world, tourists are attracted by the unique temples of the ancient city of Angkor. As a part of UNESCO's World Heritage List; this historical sanctuary is the biggest religious building complex in the world. The amount of tourists that visit this amazing area has increased four times in the last ten years: over two million tourists came to see the wondrous city just last year.
Cooperation with Sky Angkor started during the winter of 2014, when two Small Planet Airlines aircraft began flying from Cambodia. In the winter of 2013, the Lithuanian company implemented the project with Bhutan Airlines and began flying passengers from Bangkok, Thailand to Paro, Bhutan.
Sky Angkor is the South Korean and Cambodian capital airline, it started its operations in 2011. The airline flies passengers from Cambodia and Vietnam to China and South Korea utilizing Airbus A320 fleet. The company's headquarters is located in Siem Reap International Airport.
