During the meeting, the officials discussed possibilities for cooperation between Lithuania and Cuba in political, economic, cultural and educational fields.

The Lithuanian Foreign Vice-Minister asked for the Cuban Government support of the candidacy of Professor Dalia Leinartė for membership in the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women.
Lithuania supports strengthening of relations between the European Union and Cuba. However, issues relating to human rights and fundamental freedoms in Cuba remain important. Currently, the negotiations for an EU-Cuba Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement are taking place.
Lithuania also welcomes the decision to renew relations between the U.S. and Cuba.
Cuban Ambassador Orta González presented his letters of credence to President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė on 8 June. He is the first Cuban Ambassador to Lithuania.
In 2014, Lithuanian exports to Cuba increased 2.7 times and amounted to EUR 23.4 million. 70% of total volume of export from Lithuania to Cuba consisted of wheat and a mixture of wheat and rye.
Lithuania and Cuba established their diplomatic relations on 26 September 2013.
