The number of Lithuania's residents accommodated grew by 12% and totalled 206 thousand.
The majority of foreign tourists were from Russia – 34 thousand (in I quarter 2014, 55.5 thousand), Belarus – 32.6 thousand (in I quarter 2014, 38.6 thousand), Latvia – 19.8 thousand (in I quarter 2014, 17.1 thousand), Poland – 19.4 thousand (in I quarter 2014, 16.1 thousand), Germany – 13.1 thousand (in I quarter 2014, 13 thousand), Ukraine – 12.4 thousand (in I quarter 2014, 8.7 thousand), the United Kingdom – 8.9 thousand (in I quarter 2014, 6.3 thousand), Estonia – 8.3 thousand (in I quarter 2014, 7.5 thousand), and Norway – 7.8 thousand (in I quarter 2014, 5.5 thousand). Almost a third of foreign tourists – 63.9% – stayed in Vilnius.
Greater than a quarter (26.4%) of tourists stayed in the accommodation establishments of resort towns: Druskininkai – 66.8 thousand (almost the same as in I quarter 2014), Palanga – 29.1 thousand (by 18.6% more), Birštonas – 12.4 thousand (by 22.4% more), Neringa – 1.5 thousand (by 6.5% less).
In I quarter 2015, compared to I quarter 2014, Lithuanian hotels and motels accommodated by 5% more guests. This was influenced by an increase in the number of Lithuania's residents accommodated – compared to I quarter 2014, the number of Lithuania's residents accommodated in hotels and motels increased by 13.7%. The number of rooms in hotels and motels totalled 13.6 thousand (in I quarter 2014, 13.4 thousand), that of beds – 27.9 thousand (in I quarter 2014, 27.5 thousand). The hotel and motel room occupancy rate stood at 38.3% (in I quarter 2014, 38.1%), the bed occupancy rate – at 27.1% (in I quarter 2014, 28.2%).
In I quarter 2015, Vilnius hotels and motels accommodated 154.8 thousand tourists, which is by 3.6% more than in I quarter 2014; the number of foreign tourists amounted to 120.3 thousand, or by 1.1% more.
