Lithuanian haulers are interested not only in the Turkish market itself but its roads leading to other Eastern countries. In turn, Lithuania is attractive to Turkey as a gate to markets of Northern Europe.
Lithuanian and Turkish sides discussed a planned meeting of bilateral commission of transport sector representatives, which should be held in Turkey this year. The commission will consider increasing quotas for carriers.
According to Sigitas Zilius, head of transport company Simatra, although Turkey has a population of 85 million and its market is huge, yet it is difficult to expect that it would fully replace the Russian market.
