EUR 5.2 million was saved due to high competition in the tender to purchase gas for testing and successful utilisation of gas during testing.
Director General of Litgas, Dominykas Tuckus, said that 16 proposals were submitted for the tender and this allowed to choose the most economically beneficial proposal. Moreover, gas was successfully realised in the natural gas market, the unused remaining amount, around 20,000 cubic metres of LNG, was sold to Statoil, which proposed the best price and recognised this as part of the first commercial shipment.
A total of 51 million cubic metres of gas was used to test the terminal's systems, 6 million cubic metres of the amount was used for technological purposes while the rest was supplied to the Lithuanian natural gas transmission system.
UAB Litgas is providing the minimum amount of natural gas needed to ensure the LNG terminal's continuous operation. A total of 540 million cubic metres of gas is needed for this annually, LNG should be brought to Klaipeda by 6-7 tankers.
UAB Litgas has signed 16 non-binding LNG trading agreements with companies that supply nearly half of the world's LNG, it can also purchase natural gas from other Lithuanian importers.
