Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin amounted to EUR 1.1 billion (LTL 3.7 billion). The foreign trade deficit of Lithuania amounted to EUR 0.2 billion (LTL 0.7 billion).
The decrease in exports was influenced by a decrease in exports of petroleum products (13.3%), boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances and parts thereof (16.3%), ground vehicles (28.8%). The decrease in imports was determined by a decrease in imports of ships, boats and floating structures, mineral products (9.4%). Mineral products excluded, exports decreased by 10.6, imports – by 18.6%. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin decreased by 12.5%, mineral products excluded – by 13.2%. Exports to Russia decreased by 17.3%, of goods of Lithuanian origin – by 32.9%, which was conditioned by a decrease in exports of ground vehicles (87.8%), beverages, spirits and vinegar (64.7%), preparations of cereals (66.4%).
Over the year (December 2014, against December 2013), exports decreased by 3.6%, imports – by 2.1%. The decrease in exports was determined by a decrease in exports of petroleum products (25.4%) and edible vegetables (68.4%), while the decrease in imports was influenced by a decrease in imports of crude oil (12.7%) and edible vegetables (69.6%). A decrease in value of exported petroleum products and imported crude oil was conditioned by price drop for oil. Mineral products excluded, exports and imports increased by 2.5 and 2.1% respectively. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin decreased by 6.1%, mineral products excluded – increased by 6.3%.
In 2014, compared to 2013, exports decreased by 0.6%, while imports increased by 1.2%. The decrease in exports was influenced by a decrease in exports of petroleum products (24.4%) and ground vehicles (20%). The increase in imports was influenced by an increase in imports of electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof (35.2%), boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances and parts thereof (22.1%). Mineral products excluded, exports and imports increased by 6.7 and 9.7% respectively. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin decreased by 6.7%, mineral products excluded – grew by 4.7%. Exports to Russia increased by 4.4%, while exports of goods of Lithuanian origin decreased by 16.3%, which was conditioned by a decrease in exports of milk and dairy products (35.3%), meat and edible meat offal (44.8%), ground vehicles (30.6%). Exports of food and agricultural products (CN sections I–IV) to Russia decreased by 22.2%, of food and agricultural products of Lithuanian origin – by 28.3% (in 2013, exports of such products amounted to EUR 309.6 million, while in 2014 – EUR 222 million).
In 2014, the most important Lithuania's partners in exports were Russia (20.8%), Latvia (9.2%), Poland (8.3%) and Germany (7.2%), in imports – Russia (21.6%), Germany (10.9%), Poland (9.4%) and Latvia (6.9%). Most of the goods of Lithuanian origin were exported to Germany (10.4%), Latvia (8.1%), the Netherlands (7.2%), and Poland (7%).
In 2014, the largest share in Lithuania's exports and imports fell within mineral products (17.8 and 25.3% respectively), machinery and mechanical appliances, electrical equipment (15.4 and 17%), and products of the chemical or allied industries (9.2 and 10.4%). As for the goods of Lithuanian origin, the largest share in exports fell within mineral products (26%), miscellaneous manufactured articles (9.9%), prepared foodstuffs (7.9%) and products of the chemical or allied industries (7.9%).
