Deposits of residents with the Bank of Lithuania went up in December by EUR 1.4 billion (LTL 4.7 billion) to EUR 5.5 billion (LTL 19.1 billion) at the end of the month. Deposits of other monetary financial institutions (MFIs) increased by EUR 1.8 billion (LTL 6.3 billion), while central government deposits went down by EUR 461.3 million (LTL 1.6 billion).
At the end of December, central government deposits and deposits of other MFIs stood at EUR 1.3 billion and EUR 4.3 billion respectively (LTL 4.4 billion and LTL 14.7 billion respectively).
Currency in circulation decreased in December by EUR 664.9 million (LTL 2.3 billion) to EUR 1.7 billion (LTL 5.8 billion) at the end of the month. Capital and reserves went up by EUR 12.2 million (LTL 42.0 million) to EUR 554.8 million (LTL 1.9 billion) at the end of December.
