“This is a prestigious award for our energetic and driven young agency. We are delighted that this year 15 companies have established offices in Vilnius. This means new investment into the city and its infrastructure. For instance, we have received investment in the city’s street-lighting system,” said Justinas Pagirys, the manager of the Investment development department. “This prize is a sign for us that we are on the right path. We recognise that we would not have been able to achieve so much without the input of the businesses operating in Vilnius, universities, the municipality, and every single resident of Vilnius.”
The following companies established new offices or significantly developed existing ones in Vilnius in 2014 with the help of Invest Lithuania: Barclays Bank, Thermo Fisher (a life sciences technology company), Lindorff (a credit administration company), Ahlstrom (a cellulose fibre manufacturer), Game Insight (a game developer), Charlie Oscar, and many others. Thanks to these companies, more than 1,100 jobs are expected to be created in Vilnius in the near future.
This year St. Christopher’s statues have also been presented to Vilnius Tourism and Commerce School, Sister Michaela Rak (the founder of Vilnius Palliative Care Hospital), Mečislovas Sakalauskas (a photographer), Rimas Girdzijauskas (the captain of the Vilnius Fire Service), the Vilnius Branch of the Charity Service of the Maltese Order, Audrius Ambrasas (an architect), the Centre of Haematology, Oncology, and Transfusiology of Santariškės Clinics of Vilnius University Hospital, Saulius Karosas Charity and Support Foundation, and Vitas Mačiulis (who initiated the “Day of Physics” at Vilnius University several decades ago).
