"At the moment there is an outstanding claim by the Deposit Insurance Fund for approximately LTL 500 million, to be precise – LTL 489 million (EUR 144.2 million)," Vasiliauskas told members of parliament at the Seimas on Tuesday.
Currently the loan portfolio of the bankrupt Bank Snoras is on sale and could cover the remainder of the debt, said the chairman of the board of the Bank of Lithuania. "There is a possibility that the loan which was issued by the Ministry of Finance to the Deposit Insurance Fund may be fully covered," said Vasiliauskas.
The Deposit Insurance Fund, which is the biggest creditor of Bank Snoras, had claims against the bank amounting to LTL 3.99 billion (EUR 1.16 billion). By October 2014 the bankrupt bank returned to the state through the Deposit Insurance Fund LTL 1.87 billion (EUR 0.54 billion).
