The Ministry of the Economy and Innovation (EIMIN) is announcing a selection process for the position of Commercial Attaché in Poland. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing business opportunities for Lithuania and promoting exports, investments, innovation and tourism.
'Effective representation of Lithuania's interests in Poland is extremely important — not only is this country our neighbour, it is also a strategic economic partner and an important trade and investment destination. We see great potential for expanding mutually beneficial economic ties, and the new commercial attaché will play an important role in ensuring that this potential is fully realised," said Marius Stasiukaitis, Vice Minister at the Ministry of the Economy and Innovation.
Candidates for this position must have a university degree and at least two years' experience working in international cooperation, international relations or economics. They must also have B2-level English and B1-level Polish language skills. Additionally, candidates must fulfil the other requirements set out in legislation, including having the ability to obtain a permit to work with restricted information.
Based at the Lithuanian Embassy in Warsaw, the commercial attaché will maintain contacts with Polish institutions, business associations, companies and diplomatic missions of other countries. They will provide information on foreign trade policy, domestic trade regulations and economic trends, as well as identifying potential partners. They will also assist in organising official visits and business missions, promoting the export of Lithuanian goods and services, and directing investment, innovation, technological cooperation and tourism flows to Lithuania.
Poland is one of Lithuania's most important partners, being a priority market for exports, innovation and inbound tourism. In 2024, the value of bilateral trade in goods was EUR 8.83 billion, and in the first five months of 2025, it was EUR 3.73 billion. Last year, exports to Poland totalled EUR 3.52 billion, of which goods of Lithuanian origin accounted for almost EUR 2.38 billion. The main exports were mineral products, machinery and equipment, transport equipment, and food industry products. The main imports from Poland to Lithuania were machinery, transport equipment, and food and chemical industry products.
Poland is also a significant investor: in 2024, its direct foreign investment in Lithuania totalled EUR 1.28 billion. There are also active ties in the tourism sector: last year, almost 168,500 Polish tourists visited Lithuania, spending 325,700 nights in the country.
