Last Monday, Lithuanian Government approved the amendments submitted by the Ministry of Social Security and Labour, which require the use of much more flexible rules for the compensation granting.
So far the right to get a compensation for the heating have been granted to a family or a person whose household heating costs were higher by 20 percent or more in comparison to their income and the amount of 350 litas (so-called revenues supported by the state).
Local governments will be able to reduce this limit to 10%, which means that more residents will receive compensation.
It is estimated that changes in the legislation of compensation will make it possible to compensate for about 3 percent more of inhabitants.
The Government in next year's budget appointed additional 41 million litas for this purpose. In overall, partial compensation for heating will amount to 168 million litas.
We would like to remind you that the Government has proposed to revoke the tax relief for heating supplied in a centralized manner from the next year.
The heating season in kindergartens and hospitals of Vilnius has started last Sunday, on 19th October. The municipality of Vilnius city informs that in the period of five days heating should be provided to all multi-apartment households of the capital.
