“This is one of the steps we are taking to strengthen the regional economy, attract investment, and create jobs. This year, 24 projects have been awarded funding through a competitive tender process, which will help municipalities not only to modernise and improve their infrastructure, but also to contribute to creating a more favourable business environment,” says Aušrinė Armonaitė, Minister of the Economy and Innovation.
An additional EUR 2.1 million has been earmarked for four infrastructure development projects that will improve communication and stimulate economic activity. One of them will be implemented in Jonava, where a major overhaul of a strategic street is planned for EUR 625.5 thousand. In Alytus Industrial Park, a project worth EUR 1 million will improve the soil condition of an investment site and adapt it for construction work. In Ukmergė, the reconstruction of two streets is planned to continue and new storm water runoff networks will be installed. A total of EUR 470 thousand has been earmarked for these two initiatives.
“By investing every year in improving regional infrastructure, we are not only supporting planned regional projects, but also building a solid foundation for Lithuania’s future. This funding is our commitment to building a sustainable and prosperous country, and to ensuring long-term social and economic growth in Lithuania’s regions,” says Karolis Žemaitis, Vice-Minister of the Economy and Innovation.
