"We are working consistently to ensure close cooperation and economic progress between Lithuania and Ukraine. We are also mobilising the international community to rebuild a prosperous and modern Ukraine. This meeting is very important for strengthening economic relations between Lithuania and Ukraine, because a country attacked by an aggressor needs not only weapons, but also more income," said Minister of the Economy and Innovation A. Armonaitė.
She also notes that as Ukraine struggles to restore its sovereignty and territorial integrity, Lithuania is committed to providing support and cooperation in Ukraine's rapid European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
"Even in the midst of war, Lithuania and Ukraine continue to strengthen their economic ties. Together with our partners, we are constantly looking for ways to increase exports, develop technological cooperation, and create short- and long-term economic support measures. We will implement new projects that will help Ukraine and strengthen our economies," said Karolis Žemaitis, Deputy Minister of the Economy and Innovation.
In the January-June period, the two countries had a trade turnover of €847 million. Exports to Ukraine amounted to €589 million and imports to €258 million. Compared to the same period in 2022, turnover increased by 58%, exports by 78% and imports by 26%.
