During her visit to Oman, A. Armonaitė also met with the Omani Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, representatives of the Oman Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Handicrafts, and the head of Invest Oman, with whom she discussed opportunities for cooperation in the field of life sciences and digitalisation, as well as the prospects for the development of economic relations.
“We see the greatest potential for cooperation with Oman in the fields of life sciences, information and communication technologies, financial technologies, tourism and agriculture. In addition, Lithuania has extensive experience in the digitalisation of the public sector, which is one of Oman’s priorities: to ensure convenient digital services for businesses and citizens. So there is also potential for cooperation in this area,” says A. Armonaitė.
Lithuanian institutions and companies can offer their experience and expertise in developing national e-government, cyber security and other capabilities, such as the Internet of Things.
According to the Minister, there is an increase not only in the interest of Lithuanian entrepreneurs, especially in the field of information technology and the food industry, but also in the interest of our tourists in Oman. There is also potential for cooperation in promoting tourist flows between the countries.
Lithuania’s bilateral relations with Oman are the most intensive compared to other Gulf countries. The main Lithuanian goods exported to Oman in 2022 were wood and wood products, mineral products, and food products.
