deposits of Lithuanian residents with credit institutions rose by €643.1 million, or 1.7%, over the month (their annual growth rate was 10.9%). Deposits of non-financial corporations and households increased by €596.6 million and €94.0 million, or by 5.6% and 0.4% respectively (their annual growth rates stood at 17.0% and 6.5% respectively). Financial sector deposits contracted by €59.5 million over March, while those of general government increased by €39.1 million, to stand at €898.5 million and €4.5 billion respectively at the end of the month. At the end of March 2023, non-financial corporation and household deposits amounted to €10.8 billion and €21.1 billion respectively;
overnight deposits of Lithuanian non-financial corporations with credit institutions grew by €488.4 million, or 5.1%, while those of households went up by €146.0 million, or 0.9%. Balances of overnight deposits stood at around €10.0 billion and €17.0 billion;
loans granted by credit institutions to Lithuanian residents increased by €230.7 million, or 0.9%, month on month (the annual growth rate stood at 10.8%). Loans to Lithuanian non-financial corporations and households went up by €138.4 million and €85.5 million, or 1.4% and 0.6%, respectively over the month (their annual growth rates stood at 10.2% and 10.0% respectively). Loans to the financial sector grew by €15.3 million and those to general government decreased by €8.4 million. At the end of March 2023, loans to these sectors amounted to €10.2 billion, €13.8 billion, €2.0 billion and €328.8 million respectively;
loans for house purchase and consumption granted by credit institutions to Lithuanian households increased by €72.2 million and €13.8 million, or 0.6% and 1.4%, respectively month on month, while loans for other purposes decreased by €0.5 million, or 0.1% – to stand at €11.6 billion, €957.4 million and €1.2 billion respectively;
interest rates on new business of loans granted to households by credit institutions went up by 0.04 percentage points to 6.13%. Interest rates on loans for house purchase and consumption grew by 0.16 percentage points and 0.33 percentage points respectively, while those of loans for other purposes declined by 1.08 percentage points. Interest rates on these loans comprised 5.03%, 9.31% and 6.66% respectively in March 2023.
