O. Snieškaitė will be Lithuania's second Commercial Attaché in France. Daiva Kirkilaitė-Chetcuti is already serving as Commercial Attaché in Paris.
"France is an important trading partner of Lithuania - last year, the turnover of goods between the two countries amounted to EUR 2.34 billion. In response to the increased needs of our country's businesses and in order to increase the country's export opportunities, we have increased the number of Commercial Attachés in France to two," said Aušrinė Armonaitė, Minister of the Economy and Innovation.
O. Snieškaitė has extensive analytical and managerial experience working with French and international companies and business organisations, and has worked for several years as Director of the Franco-Lithuanian Chamber of Commerce at the French Embassy in Vilnius. She holds a Master's degree in Law, Economics and Management from the University of Bordeaux Montesquieu (France), from which she graduated with distinction. Ms Snieškaitė also holds a Master's degree in European Union Law from Mykolas Romeris University.
"Lithuania and France share a strategic partnership. We cooperate closely in key areas of our country's development, including economic, cultural, defence and other aspects. France is a priority export market for Lithuania, with a lot of untapped potential. Working in Paris, I will focus on positioning Lithuania as a promising innovation partner and attracting investment. I will also use my long-standing experience in developing cooperation between Lithuania and France and will do my utmost to bring these two countries, which are close to my heart, even closer together," said O. Snieškaitė.
In 2022, France ranked 12th in terms of trade turnover among Lithuania's 211 trading partners, 14th in terms of exports and 14th in terms of imports.
Lithuania currently has 16 commercial attachés in the following countries: the United Kingdom, the United States, Norway, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Israel, Ukraine, Japan, South Korea and Poland, as well as a commercial representative in Taipei.
