Compliance to the euro introduction related rules is regulated by 17 state supervision institutions whose activities are coordinated by the State Consumer Rights Protection Authority (VVTAT).
"This does not mean that in 10 days all businessmen will be visited by 17 supervision bodies and have to wait in fear to be penalised," said Director of VVTAT Feliksas Petrauskas on Tuesday.
According to Petrauskas, VVTAT and other institutions have organised training and seminars for businesses, carried out informal internal market and price conversion monitoring.
"711 enterprises and 1,622 brands of goods or services were inspected. Surprisingly, discrepancies related to legal requirements were recorded in 64% of cases. It is a considerable figure," Petrauskas said.
Preventative monitoring revealed that 47% of business entities in Vilnius failed to meet price conversion requirements. Yet, in the regions the number was much higher among the monitored businesses and reached 73%.
