According to Tomas Zitikis, Head of Route Development at Lithuanian Airports, Helsinki is an important aviation centre in the context of the whole of Europe, which has also been named as one of the priorities for Lithuanian Airports. The flight offers travellers the opportunity to reach European countries as well as other destinations and regions further afield, such as Asia and the United States of America.
“We are glad that the “Finnair” airline has decided to expand its operations at Vilnius Airport and increase the number of daily flights between Vilnius and Helsinki. This increase in frequency will mostly affect business travellers, who need the opportunity to depart and return at a convenient time and on the same day,” said T. Zitikis.
Arūnas Skuja, “Finnair's” General Manager for Europe, says that this is a historic step for the airline, which will celebrate its centenary this year.
“We are pleased to be able to respond to the growing demand from travellers and to improve connectivity between Helsinki and Vilnius. Even more convenient flight connections and transfers at the renewed Helsinki Airport will allow Lithuanian travellers to travel more comfortably and save time,” said A. Skuja.
“Finnair” airline currently operates three daily flights between Vilnius and Helsinki. During the summer season, the frequency will increase to 28 weekly flights. These frequencies will continue until 28 October 2023, when the aviation winter season will begin.
