"We have earmarked over €115 million for the development and improvement of e-services, which is why it is so important to ensure that such projects are evaluated competently. We want to ensure that the funds are allocated to the development and improvement of digital services that will bring the greatest benefits to the state and society. We plan to have the projects evaluated by the end of this year and ready for the public sector to start implementing them next year," said Eglė Markevičiūtė, Vice-Minister for the Economy and Innovation.
The evaluation criteria set out in the methodology will ensure more transparent procedures for project selection and evaluation processes. It will help to assess the need for digitisation or modernisation of digital services provided by the public sector, to determine the appropriateness of projects related to the development of these services and the development of digital solutions needed to provide them, as well as to their technological realisation and implementation. The more mature, efficient and modern a project is, the higher the score it will receive.
To strengthen the Lithuanian economy, Ministry of the Economy and Innovation plans to launch measures totalling almost €1 billion by the end of 2023. Of this, €320 million is earmarked for the digitalisation of government and business.
Over €115 million is earmarked for the development and improvement of e-services in the public sector under the "Next Generation Lithuania" plan for economic recovery and resilience. At least 15 digitisation projects are planned to be funded. Calls for proposals will start early next year after the evaluation of project proposals.
The projects are expected to significantly increase the efficiency of public administration by ensuring a higher level of digitisation of administrative and public services and their accessibility to the public. The aim is to achieve a minimum of 86% of modernised digital services by 2030.
