“The transport sector is essential for Lithuania – according to the importance of transport and logistics for the economy, Lithuania is the leader within the European Union. This sector generates 12 % of the country’s GDP. As many other areas, transport is being changed by innovations, the green course, digitisation, the COVID-19 pandemic has also left a significant imprint. We will analyse and discuss the way the area of transport and logistics will continue to form and what could be expected by 2050 in many of the Forum’s discussions, panels and presentations,” says Minister of Transport and Communications Marius Skuodis.
This Forum is one of the biggest events for the community of transport and logistics in the region.
The participants of the event will be greeted by President Gitanas Nausėda and European Commissioner Virginijus Sinkevičius. Among the participants will be Deputy Director-General for the European Commission's Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport Maja Bakran Marcich, Secretary-General of the International Transport Forum at the OECD Young Tae Kim, exponential transformation expert, “ExO” ambassador and community leader at “SingularityU Benelux” Younis Hijazi, Minister of Energy of Lithuania Dainius Kreivys, Minister of Environment of Lithuania Simonas Gentvilas, heads of global companies of the transport sector. Ministers of transport of Armenia, Latvia and Poland, and Lithuanian ministers will participate in the Session of the Ministers and the Panel Discussion moderated by Skuodis.
According to Skuodis, the Forum means two days focused on breakthrough innovations, the green course, digital transformation and innovation policy – all the relevant issues in the changing global, European and Lithuanian transport sector. The latest technology solutions will be analysed, the ideas of innovators and futurists will be presented regarding the tendencies that will shape the future of water, air and land transport within the next 30 years. Significant attention will be paid to the green transformation of transport.
During the second day of the event, the issue of the ecosystem of start-ups of the transport sector will be analysed, the possibilities of funding and accelerating start-ups will be discussed, the best examples of start-ups already operating in Lithuania and abroad will be presented, a hackathon will be organised and an opportunity for young start-ups to introduce their ideas to business angels will be provided.
The Forum will take place at VILNIUS TECH (Saulėtekio al. 11, Vilnius) and via Internet.
