At present, 764 applications have already been submitted for the replacement of old gas cylinders, with a total of EUR 11.5 million in support being requested. The largest number of applications was submitted by residents in the Tauragė District, Raseiniai District, Šilutė District, Jurbarkas District and Šilalė District municipalities.
“This year, applications are being accepted until 1 June, but we can already see that the full amount of support is reserved. The Ministry of Energy will therefore apply to the Ministry of Finance in the near future for an additional 10 million in funding for next year. This measure is crucial in ensuring people’s safety. Residents who don’t receive funding this year will therefore be put on the reserve list, and will be able to replace their gas cylinders next year, as long as additional funding is provided,” says Vice-Minister of Energy Inga Žilienė.
Residents who have submitted applications should wait until they receive a confirmation from the Environmental Projects Management Agency (EPMA) that support has been granted before starting work. Once the work is completed, final payment claims will have to be submitted through the EPMA information system by 1 December 2021. Funds for this project will not be carried over to the next year, so project promoters will need to ensure that the claims are submitted on time.
One flat can receive a total of EUR 726 (including VAT) in support: EUR 242 for conversion of the common electrical or gas engineering systems in the block of flats, EUR 242 for conversion of the electricity or gas system in the flat, and EUR 242 for the purchase of an electric or gas stove. The administration costs for the work incurred by the representative of the block of flats will also be reimbursed in the amount of 3 per cent of the maximum financing rates provided for general conversion work and the purchase of ovens.
At the beginning of this year, there were approximately 1,500 blocks of flats in the country that use gas cylinders for cooking.
