In 2011 there was an amendment on Firearms and Ammunition Law passed stating that combat weapons as well as fire rubber bullets will have to be registered and permitted as soon as the law come into effect on 1 July 2014. As the law states, weapon permits are issued only to persons who have clean criminal records and pass a background check.
Following the amendment of 2011, more than 40,000 weapons have been registered in the Republic of Lithuania.
