Lithuanian airport spokesman Tadas Vasiliauskas announced that the company plans to reduce the number of flights in all European countries.
"It is now known that the airline simply will not operate flights from Vilnius airport until the end of March due to the pandemic challenges and existing travel restrictions, but that does not mean that the base is closed," said Vasiliauskas.
The spokesman said that there was no confirmed information that the company plans to close the base at Vilnius airport.
On January 7, the Dublin carrier announced that it was reducing its flight schedule for the first quarter of 2021, taking into account restrictions imposed by COVID-19.
"From Thursday, January 21, Ryanair will significantly reduce its timetables, so there will be only a few (if any) flights to and from Ireland or Great Britain," Ryanair announced.
The carrier has lowered its annual passenger traffic forecast as more and more flights are canceled due to the coronavirus.
Ryanair is expected to carry 26-30 million passengers in the financial year ending in March. Compared to the previous forecast, this number fell by 35 million.
