The foreign trade deficit of Lithuania amounted to LTL 0.3 billion.
Over the month (in February 2014, against January), exports increased by 5.9%. This was influenced by an increase in exports of boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances, parts thereof (by 24.4%), petroleum products (by 5.8%), ground vehicles (by 16.9%). Imports increased by 1.4%. This was influenced by an increase in imports of boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances, parts thereof (by 15.7%), various chemical products (by 81%). Mineral products excluded, exports and imports of goods increased by 5.9 and 5.8% respectively. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin increased by 0.3%, mineral products excluded – decreased by 2.2%. Exports to Russia increased by 24.3%, exports of goods of Lithuanian origin – by 17.5%. The increase in exports of goods of Lithuanian origin was influenced by a 72.6% increase in exports of dairy products.
In February 2014, against February 2013, exports decreased by 8.1%. This was influenced by a decrease in exports of petroleum products (by 41.7%), cereals (by 41.4%) and fertilisers (by 27.6%). Imports decreased by 8.1%. This was determined by a decrease in imports of crude petroleum (by 48%), ground vehicles (by 12.2%). Mineral products excluded, exports and imports of goods increased by 3.5 and 7.8% respectively. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin decreased by 17.3%, mineral products excluded – by 0.8%. Exports to Russia increased by 0.2%, exports of goods of Lithuanian origin – by 11.9%.
In January–February 2014, against the same period of 2013, exports decreased by 9.6%. This was influenced by a decrease in exports of petroleum products (by 45%), cereals (by 39.9%) and fertilisers (by 29.2%).Imports decreased by 9.9%. This was determined by a decrease in imports of crude petroleum (by 48.5%), ground vehicles (by 4.6%). Mineral products excluded, exports and imports of goods increased by 3.5 and 8% respectively. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin decreased by 19.4%, mineral products excluded – by 1.6%. Exports to Russia increased by 3.6%, exports of goods of Lithuanian origin – by 11.8%, exports of Lithuanian dairy products – by 12.5%. Exports to Ukraine decreased by 31.9%, exports of goods of Lithuanian origin – by 39.4%.
In January–February 2014, the most important partners in exports were Russia (19.2%), Latvia (9.8%), Germany (8%), Poland (7.4%), in imports – Russia (22.7%), Germany (10.4%), Poland (9.6%) and Latvia (6.6%). Most of goods of Lithuanian origin were exported to Germany (10.7%), the United Kingdom (9%), Latvia (8.9%) and the United States (7.7%).
In January–February 2014, the largest share in exports and imports fell within mineral products (17.2 and 26.3% respectively), machinery and mechanical appliances, electrical equipment (12.8 and 14.3% respectively), products of the chemical or allied industries (9 and 11.1% respectively). As for the goods of Lithuanian origin, the largest share in exports fell within mineral products (25%), miscellaneous manufactured articles (10.7%), live animals and animal products (8.5%), plastics and articles thereof (8%).
