Meanwhile, the number of people participating in direct sales business increased by almost 2% and amounted to 49,000 Lithuania's residents.
"Direct selling market continues to recover faster than the country's economy or the retail market. The growth of direct selling was lower than in 2012, when it was at 16%. However, more than 8% growth in sales on average is a good result for direct selling companies, taking into account that Lithuania's economy rose by 3.4% and the retail trade by 4.5%," says Gintautas Zaleckas, General Secretary of LTPA.
Comparing the Baltic countries, in 2013 direct selling volumes increased the most in Latvia, by 12% and amounted to LTL 100 million (EUR 29 million). While in Estonia it grew by 6% to LTL 109 million (EUR 31 million). The number of direct sellers increased by 4% in Latvia and by 3% in Estonia, to 42,500 and 34,000 people respectively.
