Over the said period, prices for consumer goods remained almost unchanged, while prices for consumer services decreased by 0.3%.
Prices for consumer goods and services regulated by State and municipal authorities decreased by 0.1%, while market prices remained almost unchanged. The influence of the change in prices regulated by State and municipal authorities and market prices for general result was negative and stood at minus 0.01 and minus 0.03%age points respectively.
In February 2014, compared to January, due to seasonal discounts, prices for articles of clothing and clothing accessories decreased by 5, footwear – 3.9, clothing – 0.2%.
As for communication goods and services, the largest decrease in prices was observed for mobile phone communication services – 4.6, telephone and telefax equipment – 2.7%.
As for food products and non-alcoholic beverages, the largest increase in prices was observed for pears – 6, root vegetables (carrots, beetroot) – 5.6, chocolate – 5.2, apples – 4.4, flour – 4.1, bananas – 2.6, sugar and fruit vegetables (cucumbers, bell pepper) – by 2.3% each; a decrease in prices was observed for green vegetables – by 7.2, margarine – 2.5, citrus fruit – 1.7, potatoes – 1.4%.
As for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products, the largest increase in prices was observed for beer – 3.9%. Spirits went down in price by 0.5%.
In February 2014, annual (February 2014, against February 2013) inflation stood at 0.2% and was by 2%age points lower than in February 2013 (in February 2013, against February 2012, it stood at 2.2%).
Annual inflation was mainly determined by a 23.1% increase in prices for solid fuel, 4.9% – tobacco products, 4.6% – milk, cheese and eggs, 8.7% – vegetables, 2.4% – bread and cereals, 2.1% – restaurant and café services, 3.7% – beer, as well as by a 7.8% decrease in prices for heat energy, 8.7% – telephone and telefax services, 3.4% – fuels and lubricants, 5.4% – electricity, 9.3% – coffee, tea and cocoa, 3% – footwear.
