The major part of investment (54.8%) was made in the construction of buildings and civil engineering structures; such investment, compared to 2012, increased by 8.5%. Investment in machinery, equipment and vehicles made up 38.7% of total investment and, compared to 2012, grew by 15.9%
Investment in construction and acquisition of residential buildings amounted LTL 1978.9 million (EUR 571 million), which is by 11.5% more than in 2012.
In 2013, the volume of construction work carried out within the country amounted to LTL 7 285.9 million (EUR 2.1 billion); against 2012, it increased by 11.3% at constant prices; abroad – LTL 504.8 million (EUR 145 million); against 2012, it increased by 11.1% at constant prices.
In 2013, according to the type of work, new construction accounted for the largest share of the total construction work carried out within the country – 43.9%, reconstruction – 29.7%, repair and other construction – 26.4%.
In 2013, 8 770 permits were issued for the construction of residential and non-residential buildings. 6 571 permits, or 74.9% of all permits, were those for the construction of residential buildings (by 22.2% more than in 2012).
