"I can only confirm that we are in the final stage of negotiations for a sizeable shareholding," it quoted Orion Securities CEO Alius Jakubelis as saying.
"It is a medium-sized Western European bank, and this acquisition would be a really significant event in our company's history," he added.
Orion Securities, Lithuania's biggest non-banking financial group, last March entered Norway's market by opening its unit in Oslo, which offers capital markets and corporate finance services.
Orion Managing Partners holds an 80% stake in Orion Securities and Jakubelis owns the remaining 20%.
