Omnitel has announced that in 2013 it invested LTL 78 million (EUR 23 million), i.e. by 32% more year-on-year. The biggest part of investment was dedicated to modernize and expand its 3G network. The company also invested in 4G technology. In 2014, Omnitel plans to cover all of Lithuania's territory in 3G connection.
The company's customers are able to use high-speed 4G services in Vilnius and all of its suburbs as well as in most of Lithuanian cities.
In order to have a transparent customer base, Omnitel decided not to allow to return with the same SIM cards to Omnitel network after their expiration. Thus, in the fourth quarter of 2013, it proactively disconnected 256,000 prepaid SIM cards.
In late December 2013, Omnitel had 1.6 million users.
