"We love to dramatize or to thicken certain issue or, when someone somewhere starts to speak about the changes of the system or the changes of the control of the food and especially the smoked meat products, we immediately start shouting that we use the outdated technologies from the Soviet Times," said Butkevicius while giving an interview on radio Ziniu Radijas on Thursday.
On Wednesday, the information saying that, in the European Union (EU), the smoked meat products were to be accredited to the group of the products considered to be harmful to the health from September 2014 was released.
Butkevicius highlighted that the food quality in Lithuania was very high. According to Butkevicius, this was showed by the confusion caused by the Russia's actions against Lithuania's milk products.
"I think that we are dramatizing a little bit and, if there places where such primitive system is being used, they should stop using it. I would like to agree that this is practiced for the mass production," said Butkevicius.
The head of the Government lacked the explication of the forthcoming reforms and expressed criticism towards the institutions saying that they were only punishing the violators.
