Over the month (September 2017, against August), exports increased by 3%, imports decreased by 0.5%. The increase in exports was influenced by an increase in exports of cereal (4 times), pharmaceuticals (23.7%), edible vegetables (84%). The decrease in imports was determined by a decrease in imports of machinery and mechanical appliances, parts thereof (9.4%), edible fruit and nuts (28.5%), miscellaneous chemical products (28.2%). Mineral products excluded, exports increased by 3.9%, imports decreased by 2%. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin increased by 8.2%, mineral products excluded – 10.3%.
Over the year (September 2017, against September 2016), exports increased by 13.2, imports – 13.6%. The increase in exports was influenced by an increase in exports of petroleum products (21.5%) (amount in tonnes increased by 3.4%), electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof (23.1%), cereal (32.7%). The increase in imports was determined by an increase in imports of crude petroleum (59%) (amount in tonnes increased by 24.4%), ground vehicles (29.7%), iron and steel (43.7%). Mineral products excluded, exports increased by 11.7, imports – 8.2%. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin increased by 11.4%, mineral products excluded – 8.3%.
In January–September 2017, against the same period of 2016, exports and imports increased by 16.7 and 16.5% respectively. The increase in exports was determined by an increase in exports of petroleum products (23.8%) (amount in tonnes decreased by 4.3%), machinery and mechanical appliances, parts thereof (24.7%), electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof (28.1%). The increase in imports was influenced by an increase in imports of crude petroleum (56.7%) (amount in tonnes increased by 8.4%), ground vehicles (21%), machinery and mechanical appliances, parts thereof (14.4%). Mineral products excluded, exports increased by 15.3, imports – 13.5%. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin increased by 14.7%, mineral products excluded – 10.6%.
In January–September 2017, the most important Lithuania’s partners in exports were Russia (14.4%), Latvia (10.2%), Poland (8.4%) and Germany (7.4%), while in imports – Russia (13.2%), Germany (12.4%), Poland (10.7%) and Latvia (7%). Most of the goods of Lithuanian origin were exported to Germany (9.6%), Poland (9.2%), the United States (7.8%), Latvia (7.6%) and Sweden (7.5%).
In January–September 2017, the largest share in Lithuania’s exports and imports fell within mineral products (14.5 and 19.7 respectively), machinery and mechanical appliances, electrical equipment (15.6 and 17.9% respectively) and products of the chemical and allied industries (10.1 and 11.7% respectively). As for the goods of Lithuanian origin, the largest share in exports fell within petroleum products (19.4%), miscellaneous manufactured articles (11.7%), prepared foodstuffs, beverages, spirits and tobacco (8.7%), live animals, animal products (7.8%).
