Klaipeda remains Baltics' No 1 container port

Klaipeda remained the number one seaport in the Baltic countries in terms of container handling in January through September 2017, the port's authority informed. The Lithuanian port handled 337,500 TEUs during the nine months, up 4.4% from 323,400 in the same period last year. TEU traffic in Riga Freeport increased by 17% to 323,900 and Tallinn posted a 5.5% rise to 157,100 units. The Latvian port of Liepaja saw its TEU traffic more than double to 3,300 units. Annual TEU traffic via Klaipeda grew by 12.9% in 2016 compared with 2015 to reach 443,300 units.
