Klaipeda remains Baltics' No 1 container port

Klaipeda remained the number one seaport in the Baltic countries in terms of container handling in January through July 2017, the port's authority said. The Lithuanian port handled 256,100 TEUs during the seven months, up 2.4% from 250,000 in the same period last year. TEU traffic in Riga increased by 13.89% to 245,200 and Tallinn posted an 8% rise to 121,900 units. The Latvian port of Liepaja saw its TEU traffic double to 2,500 units. Annual TEU traffic via Klaipeda went up by 12.9% in 2016 compared with 2015 to reach 443,300 units.
