In II quarter 2017, the youth (aged 15–24) unemployment rate stood at 13.1%; over the quarter, it decreased by 1.7, over the year – by 2.6 percentage points.
In II quarter 2017, the long-term unemployment rate stood at 2.6%; against I quarter 2017, it decreased by 0.3 percentage points.
In II quarter 2017, there were 102.2 thousand unemployed persons aged 15–74 in the country, of whom 15.5 thousand were aged 15–24. Over the quarter, the total number of the unemployed decreased by 15.5 thousand, of those aged 15–24 – by 1.5 thousand.
The number of the long-term unemployed amounted to 38.7 thousand, or 37.9% of the total number of the unemployed. In II quarter 2017, against I quarter 2017, the number of the long-term unemployed decreased by 3.7 thousand, against II quarter 2016 – by 8.1 thousand.
In II quarter 2017, the employment rate of persons aged 15–64 stood at 70.6%; over the quarter, it increased by 1.6, over the year – by 1.1 percentage points. The female employment rate in the said age group was by 0.2 percentage points higher than the male one (70.7 and 70.5% respectively).
In II quarter 2017, the youth (aged 15–24) employment rate stood at 31.6%; against I quarter 2017 and II quarter 2016, it increased by 2.3 percentage points.
In II quarter 2017, the employment rate of persons aged 55–64 continued increasing – to reach 66.2%; over the quarter, it increased by 0.9, over the year – by 1.4 percentage points.
In II quarter 2017, the number of persons classified under the labour force totalled 1 million 465 thousand; against I quarter 2017, it increased by 2 thousand.
In II quarter 2017, there were 1 million 363 thousand persons employed in the country. Over the quarter, their number increased by 17.5 thousand, over the year – decreased by 4.9 thousand.
In II quarter 2017, there were 102.9 thousand employed persons aged 15–24. Over the quarter, their number increased by 4.7 thousand, over the year – by 0.3 thousand.
In II quarter 2017, there were 942.9 thousand economically inactive persons aged 15 and older; out of that number, more than half (56.5%) were old-age pensioners and persons entitled to anticipatory old-age pension.
In II quarter 2017, there were 207.4 thousand (63.7%) economically inactive persons aged 15–24; out of that number, 92.9% were studying at general, vocational schools, schools of higher education (colleges, universities).
The survey was carried using a sampling method. Over II quarter 2017, 12.7 thousand residents (0.5%) aged 15 and older were interviewed; the results were recalculated for the total population.
