Сargo turnover at Klaipeda port increases by 2.9% in January-July

The Lithuanian seaport of Klaipeda handled 23.9 million tons of cargo in January through July, a rise of 2.9% from 23.2 million tons a year ago, the port's authority said. In July alone, cargo traffic through the port increased by 2% year-on-year to 3.3 million tons. The total number of ship arrivals in Klaipeda fell by 172 ships, or 4.3%, in the seven months year-on-year to 3,807 ships, but the total number of passengers rose by 8.7% to 209,300 passengers. After the start of the cruise ship season, 38 cruise ships arrived in the Klaipeda port carrying 41,800 passengers, up by 6 ships and 7,300 passengers from April-July period of 2016.
