The construction of individual houses will predominate in the country – it accounted for 96.3% of all permits issued. Building permits were issued for the construction of 1 791 new individual houses and 97 blocks of flats whose useful floor area will be by, respectively, 12.3% and 2.2 times larger than in I quarter 2016.
In I quarter 2017, 226 building permits were issued for the construction of new non-residential buildings, i.e. by 22.8% more than in the respective period of 2016. The total floor area of the new non-residential buildings whose construction was authorized will be by 47.1% larger than in the respective period of 2016. In terms of the total floor area, the largest share of building permits issued were those for the construction of industrial buildings and warehouses (35.4%) and office buildings (16.4%).
According to the data of IS Infostatyba, in I quarter 2017, 1 667 new residential and non-residential buildings were completed, i.e. by 85.8% more than in the respective quarter of 2016. 1 529 new residential buildings with 2 300 dwellings were completed, of which 70.8% – in individual houses. The useful floor area of the dwellings completed amounted to 281.7 thousand m2, i.e. by 65.8% more than in I quarter 2016. The average useful floor area of a dwelling in individual house amounted to 147.4 m2, in blocks of flats – 62 m2.
In I quarter 2017, 31.4 % of all dwellings completed were in Kaunas, 30.1% – Vilnius, 23.9% – Klaipėda counties.
In I quarter 2017, 138 new non-residential buildings were completed. Their total floor area amounted to 160.4 thousand m2, i.e. by 34.1% less than in the respective quarter 2016. In terms of the total floor area, industrial buildings and warehouses (43.8 thousand m2) and office buildings (42.9 thousand m2) accounted for the largest share.
In I quarter 2017, in terms of the total floor area, 40.5% of all new non-residential buildings completed were in Vilnius, 29% – Kaunas, 9.3% – Klaipėda counties.
