The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding in the Netherlands, Klaipedos Nafta said.
"The memorandum will enable the companies to be more pro-active both in the Baltic Sea region and beyond. Klaipeda will become an active LNG distribution center in the LNG supply chain in the Nordic countries and Europe as a whole," Lithuania's Energy Minister Zygimantas Vaiciunas said in the press release.
Meanwhile, Klaipedos Nafta's CEO Mindaugas Jusius said that the Belgian experience in the LNG market would be highly valuable for the implementation of a small-scale terminal in Klaipeda as an efficient LNG hub performing regional functions.
Currently, Klaipedos Nafta is implementing a 27.7 mln euro project to construct an LNG distribution station, which should be operational at partial capacity in August this year, with all containers put to use in January of 2018.
