Vilniaus Kogeneracine Jegaine (Vilnius Cogeneration Plant), a company of the state-owned energy group Lietuvos Energija (Lithuanian Energy), said on Wednesday that AF-Consult had submitted the best proposal, worth 3.406 mln euros, not including VAT, for the international tender process.
A a three-year contract with the Finnish company will be signed shortly, it said.
The government has granted the Vilnius combined heat and power plant the status of a project of national importance. The European Investment Bank has agreed to provide a loan of 190 mln euros for the construction of the facility. Lietuvos Energija itself is to contribute another 10% of funds. The European Commission last September approved 150 mln euros in support for the project.
