Fifteen out of the 18 airline companies working at the Vilnius airport confirmed they would move their flights to Kaunas between July 14 and Aug. 18, the planned upgrade of the Vilnius airport. The remaining three airlines have not yet given their final answers, the Vilnius airport said.
Among companies shifting their flights to Kaunas are Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Finnair, Lufthansa, LOT Polish Airlines, SAS, airBaltic and Wizz Air. Decisions of other companies have not yet been published.
Expansion of the Kaunas airport is planned shortly. The reconstruction of the Vilnius runway is estimated at 24.825 mln euros.
