'Subway project could be implemented only under one condition - if the EU provides funding for this project. Otherwise, this project is unlikely to happen,' said Prime Minister.

When addressing the financial problems of the Vilnius city administration, Prime Minister indicated that the biggest harm to the city was done during the period when conservatives were the ruling majority. During that period, the city increased its financial obligations; however, the income did not increase accordingly.

In order to solve these financial problems, the Ministry of Finance will give a loan to the municipality so that it could pay salaries and return other commercial loans. However, the implementation of new projects is not allowed under loan's conditions.
