Belarus, shopping malls, and Lithuania - all seem interconnected. Only a week ago the shopping mall was opened in Minsk - it was built and it is run by Lithuanians.
It has long been circulated that Lithuanian company 'Maxima' is also interested in the possibility to expand into Belarusian market.
Lithuanians are also building another shopping mall in Minsk. More than 100 Lithuanian construction workers are on the sight. However, this mall will not be run by Lithuanians themselves. Still, though, the project is the biggest administrated by Lithuanians in Belarus.
New shopping mall will be of the size of Šiauliai 'Akropolis' - around 50 thousand square metres. More than 50 million dollars have already been invested into this project.
The reason why most of the workers are from Lithuania is rather simple, construction company indicates. Lithuanians are trustworthy, well qualified, and their work is of high quality. Commercial objects are expanding rapidly in Belarus, thus, Lithuanian construction companies are looking to get involved into this as much as possible, having in mind, that the geographic location is of extreme importance.
