Lithuania's resource productivity is the sixth lowest at 80 euro cents per kilogram, compared with the EU average of 2 euros. Compared with 2000, the level in Lithuania has increased by 27.1% and that of the EU by 35%.
Countries with lower resource productivity levels are Poland with 64 cents, Latvia and Estonia, both with 50 cents, Romania with 31 cents and Bulgaria with 28 cents.
The highest resource productivity levels are in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, both 3.44 euros per kilogram, Luxembourg, at 3.39 euros, and Italy, at 3.04 euros.
Resource productivity measures how efficiently natural resources are used by the economy and indicates whether economic growth is compatible with a more efficient use of the natural resources from the environment, the EU statistical office said.
