This Wednesday, during the closed government meeting, the Minister of the Economy, Evaldas Gustas, presented a proposal to terminate a contract with American Company IBM. According to Evaldas Gustas, this was decided after the Research Centre of Lithuania (LTC) has announced that it will not be able to cover the costs of such cooperation. No details were provided since the issue is considered confidential. The minister, however, indicated that law enforcement agencies will have to examine the contract details and the evaluation of the losses potentially incurred by the parties.
According to the representatives of the Ministry of the Economy, the LTC would need around 19 million litas to cover its debts. According to the contract signed with IBM, Lithuania was committed to pay 130 million litas in five years although it paid only 10 million litas.
