The company's name is yet withheld, Marijampole Deputy Mayor Povilas Isoda confirmed.
In his words, the city council has already given its approval to the terms and conditions of the investment contract.
The Nordic company should invest at least 30 million euros in construction of the new factory by 2021 and create at least 300 jobs in the first phase of the contract. The company's investment would grow to 50 million euros by 2023, reaching 100 million euros in 2026, with the number of new jobs reaching 500 and 1,000, respectively.
The city council's resolution on the investment contract shows that the Nordic company was choosing between three alternative locations for its plant, namely, Slovakia, Poland and Lithuania. It has already signed a protocol of intentions with Baltic FEZ, the operator of the Marijampole free economic zone.
