"For eight months, we had held auctions with domestic market counterparties using our internal system. After migrating to Bloomberg, the reverse auctions of public sector purchase program will be available to a wider circle of counterparties and we will be able to organize them more smoothly," Algirdas Neciunskas, the head of the bank's Eurosystem Operations Division, said in a press release.
The total amount of Lithuanian government securities offered to the Bank of Lithuania in the Thursday's reverse auction reached 16 million euros, while the allocated amount was 4.2 million euros, reads the communique.
The expanded asset purchase program consists of the third covered bond purchase program, asset-backed securities purchase program, public sector purchase program, and — as of June this year — the corporate sector purchase program. The Eurosystem's total purchases under this program amount to 80 billion euros per month.
